Departure: Ouarzazate / Route: M’Hamid – Sidi Bousnina-Bougarn – Holy Oasis – Chegaga – Ouarzazate
Camel & Jeep6 days is time enough to admire the desert with its majestic simplicity, to immerse yourself in spectacular landscapes and to have the opportunity to learn more about Nomad culture through conversations with our experienced guides. This tour offers different attractions such as, the beautiful landscapes of the High Atlas Mountains, authentic architecture, camping in the Sahara Desert, camel riding, traditionall food, music and much more. Day 1: Ouarzazate – M’Hamid
Leaving from Ouarzazate, heading to Zagora. Visit the town of Agdez, with its panoramic views over the Draa valley; see the kasbah at Tamoungalt and travelling along the valley as far as Tanskhirt. Here the track ends and we continue on our way to M’Hamid. We stop in Tamgroute to visit the Koranic library, the underground kasbah, and ancient pottery crafts. After arriving at our guest house in M’Hamid, we set up the dinner around the camp fire with music and Saharan folklore.
Day 2: M’Hamid – Sidi Bousnina
After breakfast the guided caravan heads for the ruins of Sidi Bousnina via Reg d’El Arada. Lunch on the way. We will set up camp near the ruins. Dinner, entertainment around the camp fire, listening to music played by local youths. Overnight in tents or under the starry sky.
Day 3: Sidi Bousnina – Bougarn
Early in the morning we leave for the dunes of Bougarn. Lunch on the way. In the afternoon the caravan continues on to Bougarn, where we set up our camp. While the sun is setting, the camel drivers prepare a delicious tagine (historically North African dish that is named after the earthenware pot in which it is cooked) for our evening meal. Treasure these precious moments. Dinner, entertainment around the camp fire with music. Overnight in tents or under the stars.
Day 4: Bougarn – Holy Oasis
We continue our trek while exploring the vegetation of the desert. Arrival in Oued Laatache (river of thirst) around midday. After lunch and a short rest, then we go on to the Holy Oasis. Overnight spent under the stars.
Day 5: Holy Oasis – Chegaga
We travel further south to Chegaga, where we discover the real desert and the Nomads with their herds. Lunch at the Holy Oasis. Overnight stay in Nomad tent which shower and other facilities.
Day 6: Chegaga – Ouarzazate
Breakfast at the camp before travelling by 4×4 along the sand tracks back to M’Hamid. Lunch, then we continue our journey to Ouarzazate.
